Keep Ups are a way to improve your touch as a footballer, improving ball control, foot movement and balance. Often done individually, repeating keep ups has always been a large part of the game to improve ball control.
Practise your keep ups with a partner, where you must each have 2 touches. This will replicate a match situation where you often have only 1 touch to get the ball under control. Further to this it replicates judging the flight of the ball when receiving the ball from someone else, whilst controlling it and completing a quality pass back to your partner.
Use both feet and several different parts of your body to get used to controlling the ball coming at you at any height.
It’s not always going to be perfect, sometimes you may have to take an extra touch. But keep practising until you can consistently do it right!
